I watched two coworkers react completely differently to the same feedback. What usually matters more?

Our manager gave nearly identical constructive feedback to two people this week. One thanked him and started making changes immediately. The other looked discouraged for the rest of the day. It made me wonder what really determines how we receive criticism.
